Story Teller Kirk Waller's Guestbook

Thank you Kirk for making our student's day. I was amazed at how many students came to us yesterday and expressed their excitement about your performance. A student stated "I loved the stories!" Another stated "I enjoyed all the story teller's voices for each character." The students were in awe, and they were very thankful. You are a master storyteller and captivated an entire 7th grade class. Thanks from all of us at Bayside! Joe Spina

We just held our 5th annual family reading night, and this was the second time Kirk did storytelling for us. He performed two daytime assemblies and one performance in the evening for families (a crowd of over 250 people!). He is a wonderful storyteller and musician, and very skilled at managing large crowds of all ages. So many teachers, parents, and kids told me how much they enjoyed Kirk's stories and music. There was a lot of interest in his CDs. Kirk's performance capped off a really fun evening.

Kirk,

Your event on August 2nd was excellent! As usual! Anyone who can get Alana to put her phone down and pay attention AND participate really has it going on, Seriously! The girl stays wired. LolÖ (EXCEPT AT YOUR EVENT)
BTW,Iím taking the initiative on behalf of my daughter and son to find out your availability in December. This year we have someone who will be 5 years old (time flies) and they discussed having a party at Fairyland with entertainment. You were on the top of their list but I donít think they have planned anything yet. I donít want it to get too close to December and then youíre all booked up. They have been copied on this email but are unavailable right now. They will probably respond at the end of the month.

Thanks for all your stories. They are wonderful!

I really enjoyed your stories and interactions with the audience. I also liked how you included interesting information on ancient instruments (especially the origin of the banjo).

I just saw your excellent show at the Bernal Heights branch of the SF Public Library. The little kids and their parents loved it, and you also made me feel like a kid again! Thank you for that!

I am a 7th grade History teacher at the East Bay School for Boys in Berkeley. We were working on our Medieval West Africa unit and I wanted to bring students on a special field trip or bring in a guest speaker to my class to model African oral tradition and help to bring African history alive. A colleague of mine saw Mr. Kirk Waller tell a folk story at his church and he said you need to contact him. Not only was I concerned about Mr. Waller connecting with and engaging an all boys middle school audience but I did not know if I could afford his services or if he'd be available. I am very grateful that I reached out to him because students were interested in his story, they learned more about African music instruments and cultural aspects that they are still talking about a week later. I can't wait to bring Mr. Waller back next year!!!

Kirk was our featured guest storyteller when we recently debuted "The Porch" at Bear Creek High School. He was fabulous! He met with each of our (very nervous) storytellers and found individual connections and encouragement for all. His 30 minutes on stage was absolutely magical! We could not have found a more caring, competent, and creative artist to help us with our inaugural performance. He has an open mic on our stage any time he wants!

Kirk wowed our audience as a first-time teller at the 29th Annual Sierra Storytelling Festival presented by the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center this past July. He is an authentic and vivacious person and teller. His stories ranged from poignant to heartfelt to hilarious. Thank you, Kirk, for your efforts and keep it up.

Kirk, you certainly mesmerized 20 children & 5 adults for an entire hour. That is not an easy feat. The children & us adults were enthralled in your stories. Your charisma, your ability to keep our attention, your incorporating music & audience interaction were far more than we expected. The children talked about you & those stores for days. You are a gifted man who has a big heart. We were all very impressed with you & would recommend you for any event. Thank you for driving all the way out to Vacaville to spend time with us & bring smiles to our faces. May God bless you. :)
